Xavier Declèves

Xavier Declèves received a PharmD in 1999 and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacokinetics from the University of Paris Descartes in 2000 and the Research Habilitation to manage PhD students in 2010. Since 2023, Prof. Declèves is Research Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Paris from Université Paris Cité.

He is clinical pharmacologist and head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Cochin University-Hospital in Paris. He is the team leader of the research team “The Blood-Brain Barrier in Brain Pathophysiology and Therapy” (Inserm UMRS_1144) dedicated to brain barriers and their role in the variability of PKPD relationships of small and large molecules targeting the CNS.

Prof Declèves has made contributions in preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics, drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters at tissues barriers including the intestinal and blood-brain barriers, and CNS drug delivery strategies. He is author of more than one hundred originals peer-reviewed articles and is Associate Editor of Fluids and Barriers of the CNS.
